Appreciate!!

Appreciation... isn't it what we always are on a look out for!! But how many times do we appreciate efforts of others.. Well if we do it great, if we don't we should...
At most times, we realise and understand the importance of others/ others work once its not there.. I could never have imagined that my manager cud appreciate my work and commitment as much as she did on my farewell :)) and for the first time she had examples of good work that i did... i just wonder if that was my appraisal would she speak so good... She did appreciate me otherwise but ye din to kuch aur hi tha... After a point the material returns from your job bcome minuscule and all that matters are these small, sweet things which most miss out on..
When did you last appreciate ur mom, ur dad... ur family.. ur friends... ur colleagues... ur manager.. and most importantly Urself.. Just cos i am not as intelligent as , or good looking as, or smart as... or as..... as xyz, do i always undermine myself...
Once you appreciate urself every fall, every problem, every issue can be tackled with lot of ease.. when you appreciate urself... even if others miss to do... it doesn't matter... why shd i form an impression of me based on what xyz says abt me.. ok i don't know stuff maybe... but appreciate the fact that you know that you don't know and learn :)
When you find someone has worked hard on something but yet it is not up to the mark.... appreciate the efforts... if not the end result.. There are 2 options here
1. You appreciate : The person learns and does better the next time..
2. you screw his/ her a** : He losses all confidence and the next time he works he screws up more :))
in the end you loose
If you cant appreciate, never never devalue anyone...
baap re bahut gyaan giving ho gaya... off i go... and not to forget i appreciate you read my bakwaas...oye u dare not call it bakwaas.. remember if u cant appreciate... don't devalue this masterpiece :))

  5. well...for starters....just appreciating without any useful inputs to improve the performance is simply encouraging the person to be content with wat she/he has done and not try for more...a person who knows more can guide her/his juniors, sub ordinates in a better way by being critical....but obv... complete denouncement will result in moral plunge of the person....last thing anyone would like to do to her/him self or to people working under them :P

Well...I think the "know you" feeling came from the fact that I know someone with same name as urs and perhaps the views match to :P

    PS:- :P

  6. may buy ur point.. but at most times there is a difference in understanding levels of starters and experienced.... At times the difference is forgotten and juniors are expected to work almost at par... like one person in my office was comparing work of a guy probably 1-2 months in the firm with the work of a guy who spent almost a year.. So injustified that can be! I wud say its better to appreciate the efforts and highlight the things that are wrong...than make unnecessary fuss..

  7. Well.. Agree that sometimes it happens. But the very essence of the s/w field is to keep yourself updated on all fronts and not to be content with what you know already. Of curse appreciating the efforts is a good thing but pointing out the fallacies is not at all bad thing as long as it is done in a decent and proper manner... :P

  8. Lets kip it general Mr Software expert :) Yup agreed in any field u need to be updated... yes i mean fallacies shd be pointed out... but as rightly said by u in a decent manner... unless ofcourse the employee is a type X employee as per McGregors theory x/ theory y ... jisko maar maar ke kaam karana pade... which i am sure 8/10 of this gen kids are not... All highly motivated individuals looking to move their career graph up.. So by appreciate i dont mean just kip buttering.. so agreed with ur point that Fallacies shd be pointed in a NICE and DECENT manner :) But in the end what happens most of the times is people dont forget to highlight fallacies... but completely forget the efforts/ good work :)
